Want To Be A Jury In 2026? Learn How To Participate In The Jury Court In The City Of Palmas

It is already on air the August episode of the ESMATCast, podcast of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat). This month, the focus is on the Jury Court, one of the oldest and most democratic instruments of the Brazilian Justice.

The guest of the episode is Judge Cledson José Dias Nunes, holder of the 1st Criminal Court of the District of Palmas and president of the Jury Court in the capital.

In a conversation with the Journalist Tarcisio Vória, the magistrate presents an overview of the functioning of the popular jury, the crimes within the jurisdiction of the court, the role of jurors in criminal proceedings and the fundamental guarantees involved in this type of trial.

Also discussed are the legal criteria for acting as a jury, duties during the session and the impact of citizen participation in the Justice System.

In addition to the content of the podcast, Esmat also highlights that the 1st Criminal Court of the District of Palmas is open until September 15th for those who wish to act as volunteer jury volunteer in the sessions of the Jury Court in the year of 2026.
