Courts Of The Northern Region Hold Virtual Public Hearing On July 8th To Set Targets For 2026

The Courts of Justice of the Northern Region of Brazil, including the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO), under the presidency of Justice Maysa Vendramini Rosal, will hold a joint Virtual Public Hearing on July 8th, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Brasília time.

The event seeks popular participation in the development of the National Goals of the Judiciary for 2026 and it will be broadcast live on the YouTube channels of all the Courts of Justice of the Northern Region, through the GOOGLE MEET platform, and it is regulated by a joint notice published in the Gazette of Justice.

Presidents of the Courts of Justice of the states of Acre (TJAC), Amapá (TJAP), Amazonas (TJAM), Pará (TJPA), Rondônia (TJRO), Roraima (TJRR) and Tocantins (TJTO) sign the Public Hearing Notice.

According to the notice, the initiative aims to meet the requirements of the Ordinance No. 411 of the CNJ of 2024, which regulates the Quality Award 2025 of the CNJ, and to strengthen collaborative and democratic management, in accordance with the guidelines of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and the Resolution No. 221 of the CNJ of 2016.

“The main objective of the public hearing is to collect opinions, proposals and suggestions from society as a whole, including members of the legal profession, the Public Defender's Office, the State Prosecution, researchers, academics, university students and representatives of other institutions, in order to improve the National Goals of the Judiciary,” explains Justice Maysa Rosal, president of the TJTO.

Dynamics of the hearing

Any citizen can sign up to take part in the videoconference room until July 3rd, 2025, using an electronic form. During the event, it will be possible to send questions and comments via the CHAT on the live streaming platform, with moderation to ensure civility and thematic relevance. The personal data collected will be used exclusively for the institutional purposes of the event, in accordance with the General Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 13,709 of 2018).

According to the notice, each registered participant will have between 2 and 5 minutes to present their thoughts on the National Goals, depending on the number of registrants. The LINK to access the videoconference room and the speaking time will be sent out the day before the hearing.

The notice also forbids the use of the space for electioneering, promotional or otherwise, directly related to the subject of the notice.

The proposals and statements gathered at the public hearing will be systematized and forwarded to the National Council of Justice by the participating Courts of Justice. The schedule for the hearing includes a contextualization by the TJAM, followed by the presentation of each target proposal by different Courts of Justice in the Northern Region, with the TJPA and TJTO moderating and taking questions, respectively.

Proposed National Goals Of The Judiciary For 2026

Among the proposed National Goals of the Judiciary for 2026 that will be discussed are:

Goal 1 – Judge more cases than distributed.

Goal 2 – Judge the oldest cases.

Goal 3 – Encourage conciliation.

Goal 4 – Prioritize the judgment of cases relating to crimes against the public administration, administrative improbity and electoral offenses.

Goal 5 – Reduce the congestion rate.

Goal 6 – Prioritize the judgment of environmental lawsuits.

Goal 7 – Prioritize the judgment of cases related to indigenous people and quilombolas.

Goal 8 – Prioritize the judgment of cases related to femicide and domestic and family violence against women.

Goal 9 – Stimulate innovation in the Judiciary.

Goal 10 – Promote the rights of children and adolescents.
