Second Day Of The Lix Meeting Closes With Debates On The Challenges Of Legal Education And Reading Of The Copedem Charter

The second and final day of the LIX Meeting of the Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of the Magistracy (COPEDEM), held in the city of Porto Velho by the School of the Judges of the State of Rondônia (Emeron), was marked by fundamental reflections on the future of legal education in Brazil. The programming included workshops and lectures on the contemporary challenges of continuing training for magistrates, as well as the impact of technological innovations on the Judiciary, and it ended with the reading and signing of the Copedem Charter of Porto Velho.

The morning began with the workshop on “Challenges and perspectives for continuing legal education”, led by Professor Jailana Saraiva, who provided a critical analysis of the new training demands of the Judiciary. With an interactive approach, the meeting brought up issues such as the need for active methodologies, the strengthening of judicial teaching and the expansion of permanent training policies, aligned with the dynamic reality of the Justice system.

Afterwards, Professor and regional public prosecutor André de Carvalho Ramos gave a lecture entitled on “The Impacts of Innovation on the Judiciary”, highlighting how technological transformations have profoundly altered not only judicial services, but also the ways in which Law is taught, learned and applied.

The end of the event was marked by the reading and signing of the COPEDEM Charter of Porto Velho, a document that summarizes the commitments and proposals debated over the two days of the meeting. The letter represents the union of judicial schools around common guidelines for the qualification of legal education in the country, reaffirming the strategic role of education in consolidating a more efficient, democratic and innovative Judiciary. The main theme listed in the Charter at this meeting was the ethical use of Generative Artificial Intelligence in the Judiciary.
