This June, the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) implemented a new tool to make it easier for people with dyslexia and other reading difficulties to read PDF files. This initiative is in line with the accessibility and inclusion policies regulated by the National Council of Justice (CNJ).
The Rybená tool, already used on the portals of the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins, now has additional features that provide more inclusive browsing. Roberto Carlos Pires, a member of the Administrative and Technological Supervision team of Esmat, highlighted the importance of this initiative.
"In order to be close to citizens in an accessible and inclusive way, Esmat has made a new accessibility tool available on its portal, which will allow people with hearing and visual disabilities to have a more complete and accessible system to help them navigate the portal of the School. In addition to the basic LIBRAS translation functions, the new tool will offer features such as reading for people with visual disabilities, audio playback and reading of PDF documents made available on the portal," he explained.
For people with dyslexia, who face specific challenges in reading and writing, the tool offers features such as friendly fonts, adjustable spacing and color contrasts, as well as reading guides that help focus attention on one line at a time.
As of this Tuesday (June 25th), all news published by Esmat that contains PDF files will already be adapted to the new accessibility feature.

Rybená not only serves people with dyslexia, but also facilitates access for those with intellectual, cognitive, hearing, visual disabilities, color blindness, ADHD, functional illiteracy and the elderly, among other reading and comprehension difficulties.
Rybená's +Accessibility module provides 12 automatic features to improve the accessibility experience, including dark, light, inverted and desaturated contrast, highlighted links, reading mask, increased text size, alternative text for images and animation pause.
