The first edition of ENAM will take place this Sunday

This Sunday, April 14th, the National School for the Training and Improvement of Magistrates (ENFAM) will hold the first edition of the National Magistracy Exam (ENAM) in all Brazilian capitals. Established by the Resolution 531 of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) on November 14th, 2023, the purpose of the exam is to qualify people interested in running for judgeships, promoted by regional courts, labor courts, military courts and courts of the States and the Federal District and territories.

ENAM seeks to ensure that selection processes for the judiciary take place in a way that values reasoning, problem-solving and vocation for the career. With an eliminatory and non-ranking nature, it seeks to contribute to the democratization of access to the judiciary, making it more diverse and representative.

The exam will consist of 80 questions that will assess knowledge of the candidates on constitutional law, administrative law, general notions of law and humanistic training, human rights, civil procedural law, civil law, business law and criminal law.

The General Director, Minister Mauro Campbell Marques, highlights the Exam as another step in the improvement of the Judiciary, stressing that it is increasingly necessary for Judges to be prepared to face the challenges of our society and the inequalities of a country the size of Brazil.

"Judges with a vocation and who value humanistic values are indispensable for our country. Our ideal is a more effective judicial service for society and I am sure that ENAM is an important step towards making the judiciary increasingly attuned to the needs of the Brazilian people," he said.
