Academics Of The Master's Degree In Judicial Provision And Human Rights Participate In Activities Of The Socio-Political Inclusion Program Of The Indigenous Peoples Of The State Of Tocantins

With the proposal of seeking an immersion in the social reality of the indigenous peoples of the State of Tocantins, academics and graduates of the Stricto Sensu Postgraduate Program of Jurisdictional Provision and Human Rights (PPGPJDH), promoted by the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT) in partnership with the Superior School of Magistracy of Tocantins (ESMAT), are conducting field research activities in the indigenous territories located on Bananal Island, in the Southwest region of Tocantins. The team of social researchers is accompanying the activities of the permanent program of Socio-political Inclusion of Indigenous Peoples, of the Tocantins Regional Electoral Court (TRE-TO).  

Among the activities developed are open interviews aimed at the perception of indigenous peoples of the Karajá ethnic group, on Bananal Island, about access to legal guidance and judicial provision. The activities extend until next Friday (August 5th), with visits to four villages.

In the territory, it is being offered emission and / or rectification of personal documents; Institute of Identification and Forensic Papilloscopy, emission of Identity Registration document; Brazilian Army with military enlistment; Civil Registry Office with emission and revision of birth certificates, rectifications of records and recognition of paternity; Secretariat of Culture with the registration of portfolio of artisans; Public Defender's Office provided individual and collective legal assistance; Federal Revenue Service with the emission of CPF; the Federal University of the State of Tocantins (UFT) brought the participation of the Medicine course with projects aimed at the health of the indigenous community.

In addition to the itinerant services, the community also had educational lectures and various information provided by the Electoral Judicial School (EJE), Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT), Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (SEBRAE), Secretariat of Indigenous Peoples of the State of Tocantins (SEPOT), Indigenous Education Management (SEDUC) and the National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples (FUNAI).
