Book Collection Campaign Benefits Awã Canoeiro Indigenous Community

The campaign to collect books for the Awã Canoeiro Indigenous village, promoted by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT), was a success. Thanks to the union of the entire School team, TJTO employees, course students, library users, family members, friends and the community, about 205 copies of literature books were collected.

Aiming to promote access to reading and encourage the habit from childhood, the campaign prioritized the collection of new and/or used books, with a focus on books for children.

The delivery of the books took place during a special visit to the village, located on the Bananal Island. The new Tutawa Awa State School, located in the Itaro village, was chosen to receive the donations. This initiative aims to bring culture and knowledge to the indigenous community, contributing to the educational and cultural development of its members. Esmat librarian Silvânia Olortegui was responsible for delivering the books on Thursday (June 15th).
