Judge Marco Villas Boas is reelected to the position of General Director of Esmat

During the 4th Ordinary Administrative and face-to-face session of the Full Court of the Egregious Justice Court of Tocantins, held on the afternoon of this Thursday (1st), Judge Marco Villas Boas and Judge Etelvina Sampaio Felipe were reappointed to the position of general director of the School of Judges of Tocantins (ESMAT) and first deputy director of the School, respectively.

Elected for the 2021-2022 biennium, Judge Marco Villas Boas emphasized the institution’s challenges in view of the adaptations that will be imposed after the Covid-19 post-pandemic. “We had an atypical year. We are facing a major health and global challenge that requires caution and paradigm shifts in the educational process. Fortunately, we were able to adapt quickly to the new educational format, focused on the transmission of knowledge and the use of technological tools to assist in this process. We will certainly have to update ourselves even more. However, we do not interrupto r pause educational activities.Our challenge for the next two years is reflected in the processo f adapting tools to bring knowledge to our academics with excellence”, he said.

During his tenure, as general director of Esmat, for five consecutive biennia, judge Marco Villas Boas, through an agreement with the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT), implanted, at Esmat, the first Professional Master’s Degree in Brazil, in Jurisdictional Provision and Human Rights, for the improvement of magistrates and civil servers, and  ISO 9001 Quality System at the institution; signed an agreement with the Law College of the University of Coimbra, with the Institute of Brazilian Law of the Law College of the University of Lisbon and with the Institute of Brazilian Law of the Law College of the University of Lisbon and with the Institute of Legal and Political Sciences of the same University. Recently, in partnership with the University Center of Brasília (UniCEUB), the selection process for Esmat’s third interinstitutional doctorate was launched. The institution also has partnerships in Stricto Sensu Doctoral Programs with UFT and with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC – Rio).

To form the Institutional and Academic Council of the new administration, the following were elected:

Judge Marco Villas Boas – General Director of Esmat

Judge Etelvina Maria Sampaio Felipe – First Deputy Director of Esmat

Judge Pedro Nelson – President of the Academic and Institutional Council of Esmat
