During the inauguration of the new Board of Directors of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins, Justice Marco Villas Boas, General Director of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT), and Justice Ângela Issa Haonat were reappointed as General Director and Deputy Director of the School for the 2023-2025 biennium. The ceremony was attended by authorities from the State of Tocantins and also by Justice João de Jesus Abdala de Simões, counselor of the Superior School of the Judge of the State of Amazonas. This year, in April, Esmat celebrates 20 years of its foundation.
For the year of 2023, the first selection process for the doctorate of the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Judicial Provision and Human Rights is planned. In his closing speech, Justice João Rigo Guimarães emphasized the importance of Esmat for the training of magistrates and civil servers, and highlighted the efforts to build the definitive headquarters of the School.
“A Esmat tem um papel muito importante na formação de magistrados(as), servidores(as) e profissionais das comunidades. Com a recondução do desembargador Marco Villas Boas na direção geral, a Esmat permanece em boas mãos. Agora vamos trabalhar para construir um prédio para abrigar a Escola, como também construir a sede da Corregedoria e mais quatro fóruns no Estado” afirmou.
"Esmat plays a very important role in the formation of magistrates, public servers and professionals of the community. With the reappointment of Justice Marco Villas Boas as General Director, Esmat remains in good hands. Now we are going to work to construct a building to house the School, as well as to build the headquarters of the General Internal Affairs of Justice and four more forums in the State", he stated.
In her speech, Associate Justice Angela Issa Haonat, who is taking over as Deputy Director of Esmat, reinforced the importance of the School throughout time.
"It is a great honor to assume the Deputy Directory of Esmat, together with Justice Marco Villas Boas, because the School today, besides promoting the formation of Judges and public servers, performs the social function of bringing the Judiciary and society closer together", she recalled. For Justice Marco Villas Boas, General Director of Esmat, over the past decades the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins has invested in restructuring its organization and that of the entire Judicial Power by providing valuable support to the districts, with a modern work structure, data and voice networks, and an adequate physical structure with new headquarters, based on the fulfillment of the strategic planning, which began in 2003 with a focus on building the headquarters - the interior and the Palmas Forum.
"In addition to investments in technology and judicial organization, and especially in personnel training, we have reached the level of a modern Judiciary, focused on the effectiveness of the jurisdiction, on the provision of jurisdiction, which honors the human dimension above all other objectives, in order to promote fundamental rights and value people. And, in this scenario, the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT) has a fundamental role. In my administration, throughout these years, we have worked together with the other managers of the judiciary with this focus. In this sense, we have much faith and hope, more and more, in a faster and fairer judicial provision", he reinforced.
Biennium 2023-2025
For the next biennium, Justice Etelvina Maria Sampaio Felipe took office as the new president of the Court of the State of Tocantins. In the occasion, also took office: Justice Angela Prudente (Vice President); Justice Maysa Vendramini (Chief Justice); Justice Jacqueline Adorno (Vice Chief Justice); Justice Helvécio Maia Neto (Judicial Ombudsman); Justice Adolfo Amaro (Substitute Judicial Ombudsman); Justice Marco Villas Boas (General Director of Esmat); and Justice Angela Haonat (Deputy Director of Esmat).
