Judiciary, through CGJUS, joins the Challenge Day and encourages Judges and servers to move on May 26th

Promoting the quality of life of magistrates and servers is among the priorities of the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins, indicated in its strategic planning. Seeking to meet this criterion and motivate magistrates and public servers to take better care of their health, the Justice of the State of Tocantins, through the Office of the Chief Justice (CGJUS), joined the Challenge Day. The project aims to mobilize magistrates and public servers to interrupt their routine on May 26th and practice, for at least 15 consecutive minutes, a physical activity, which can be done alone or in a group, in the latter case, following Covid-19's prevention guidelines.

The Project is connected with the fulfillment of the Macro-Challenge Improvement of People Management, of the Humanization and valorization Program of Servers and Magistrates of the CGJUS. "Physical activity has proven to be a great ally for health, well-being, and quality of life. Encouraging magistrates and public servers to participate in the Challenge Day is also taking care of the members of the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins in a humanized way", said Judge Etelvina Maria Sampaio Felipe, Chief Justice.

Challenge Day

The winter of 1983 in Saskatoon, Canada, was especially cold. Thinking of the residents' well-being, Mayor Clifford Wright suggested that everyone went for a walk. The idea was to get people to warm up while moving. The following year, he invited the neighboring city and both cities held the walk together. The essence of #ChallengeDay was created. In 1995, it was Sesc São Paulo's turn to coordinate the campaign's activities in Brazil, then, years later, in Latin America and, later, in the whole American continent. In this context, Law #13,645, of April 4th, 2018, was sanctioned, establishing the National Challenge Day in Brazil, to be celebrated on the last Wednesday of May each year, which concerns the practice of physical and sports oriented activities, to be performed for at least fifteen minutes, in private companies, in public administration bodies, direct and indirect, in school establishments, at home, in public spaces, and in any other places that allow healthy coexistence among people.

In 2020, due to the pandemic, the event had the participation of 12 countries of the American Continent, with emphasis on actions in the online environment, forming thousands of interactions through social networks and consolidating the physical-sports manifestations as an important platform for dialogue and community action in the territories. In this edition, the event will follow the model that encourages the promotion of sustainable actions in the virtual environment, highlighting the importance of regular and adequate physical and sporting activities, fundamentally, as a life habit that is determinant for health and peace in social coexistence. The participation of the Judicial Administrative Department of the State of Tocantins in the 2021 Challenge Day values the practice of physical and sporting activities on a regular basis and guided by qualified professionals, in order to provide healthy living benefits, including in compliance with the 2030 agenda, specifically, SDG 3: health and welfare.
