Members of the Judiciary and experts in environmental legislation will be gathered, from March 19th to 21st, in the city of Santarém- state of PA, to participate in the course on Among Rios: dialogues on Environmental and Climate Justice in the Amazon context.

The main objective of the educational action is to identify and analyze legal, scientific and practical aspects of the environmental legislation, especially in the Amazon context. Participants will discuss the application of the theme in the Constitution, in the National Environmental Policy Law and the effective protection of the Amazon biome.
The course reinforces the commitment of Enfam on promoting judicial practices sensitive to the Amazon context, aligned with consolidated case law, constitutional principles and national sustainability guidelines, conferring more technical and institutional robustness to the Brazilian Judiciary.
Two magna classes will be presented. The first will address Amazonian Law, Fraternity and Climate Justice in the 21st Century, presented by the minister of the Superior Court of Justice Reynaldo Soares da Fonseca, and the second will deal with Environmental Law, Development and Centers of Justice and Citizenship, taught by the minister of the STJ (Superior Court of Justice) Carlos Augusto Pires Brandão.
The thematic tables will address: The role of the Judiciary in socio-environmental and climate protection; Legal policy for the appropriate treatment of socio environmental conflicts, restorative justice and the context of the Legal Amazon; Challenges of socio-environmental jurisdiction in the Legal Amazon - limits and possibilities of environmental and climate justice -; Collision of fundamental rights: the balance between economic development and environmental preservation; Commitments of Justice with the Amazonian biome: from judicial decision to environmental and climate effectiveness; and Self-compounding methods in complex socio ecological conflicts.
At the end of the programming, there will be a round of discussions on challenges to environmental jurisdiction and the experience of the courts and specialized environmental chambers, with the participation of justices and judges with environmental activities in the Amazon, to be nominated by Courts of Justice of the North region.
