This Monday (September 16th), the Class III of the course on Basic Life Support and First Aid gathered civil servers and magistrates for a training promoted by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat). The training took place in person, from 2 pm to 6 pm, at the General Internal Affairs, with a workload of 4 hours.

The course aims to prepare participants to act correctly in situations of cardiac arrest, fainting, seizures, choking, bleeding and burns, until the arrival of specialized care.

The chief Justice, Justice Pedro Nelson de Miranda Coutinho, highlighted the importance of the training for the safety and well-being of all, "These are moments of great tension, which require responsibility and the ability to assess the extent somebody is prepared to act in situations involving human life. The course offers essential techniques and provides a unique experience for all the participants," he said.

The training was conducted by Cardiologist Elaine Cristina Ferreira, coordinator of the Health Space of the TJTO, and Nurse Bruno Ribeiro Rocha, both with extensive experience in urgent and emergency care.

"Training magistrates and civil servers to act correctly in emergency situations is essential, because it allows the initial care to be done safely until the arrival of specialized relief," noted Cardiologist Elaine Cristina Ferreira.

For the civil server Vinicius Cumpim, the training represents an important advance for safety in the work environment and for the appreciation of professionals,

“It was an extremely enriching experience. The initiative demonstrates the commitment on valuing civil servers and building a safer environment, reinforcing the importance of being prepared to act correctly and responsibly in emergency situations", he said.

The Basic Life Support (BWS) consists of a set of emergency procedures applied as first aid in life-threatening situations, such as sudden sickness, cardiopulmonary arrest (CRP), and airway obstruction. The practice can be performed by health professionals or by trained laity, ensuring initial care until the arrival of specialized relief.
