Report

The final report of the GT Memory of Slavery and Freedom emphasizes that slavery, although abolished as a legal regime, remains as a structural mark of the Brazilian society. Associated with racism, it still sustains inequalities and limits the full access of the black population to rights, guarantees and citizen participation.

The publication brings together research on the conservation and dissemination of the 18th and 19th-century collections in courts, case studies, archival treatment plans and narratives of enslaved people, as well as recommendations to courts.
