The library of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT) benefited from two significant donations this November. A total of more than 3,000 copies were kindly donated by Justice Angela Issa Haonat and by the wife of the writer and former mayor of the city of Palmas, Odir Rocha, Dirce Noda Rocha.
Among the materials donated by Angela, from her personal library, are works that mainly cover environmental and urban law, offering a beneficial collection for the legal community.
Among the books donated by Dirce are some rare and old works, including copies dating from the 19th and 20th centuries - such as "Os Lusíadas" (The Lusíadas) by Luís de Camões, from 1918. Silvânia Olortegui, librarian of Esmat, thanked her for the donations and stressed the importance of these books for the community.
The books are currently undergoing a selection, cataloging and restoration process. Some of them will be donated to fundraising campaigns of Esmat, benefiting educational institutions and penal units in our State, while others will remain available in the school library for everyone to access.
