Check Out The Full Programming Of The International Congress On Human Rights

The waiting is over: The full programming of the 18th edition of the International Congress on Human Rights is now available. Promoted by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT) and held from November 11th to 14th, the event is free, open to the public and will bring together experts from Brazil, China, Spain, Colombia and the United States.

With the theme on "The Future of Human Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence", the Congress will occupy different spaces of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO) and Esmat, with mini-courses, panels, conferences and banner exhibitions. The programming includes discussions on Digital Justice, Technological Innovation, Ethics, Equity and Emerging Rights in the Global Scenario.

Mini courses: a part chapter 

On November 11th and 12th, the Congress opens with eleven face-to-face activities, between Good Practices and short courses, always from 9am to 12pm, with themes ranging from restorative justice to combating gender violence, through the judicialization of health and the intersections between technology and justice.

Places are limited, and each participant can register for only one mini-course. The choice is made at the time of the general registration in the event.

Official opening and honored of the year

The opening ceremony will be held on November 12th, at 5:30 pm, in the auditorium of the TJTO, with a conference by the Brazilian Patricia Florissi, honored in this edition.

From the state of Pernambuco, PhD in Computer Science, she is technical director of Google Cloud in New York and works in the leadership of projects on emerging technologies, as well as the production of content aimed at innovative leadership.

Also on the 12th, Senator Eduardo Gomes, rapporteur of the Special Committee on Artificial Intelligence in the Senate, also participates in the opening to talk about regulation and legislative advances on AI in Brazil.

Panels, conferences and academic papers

Nos dias 13 e 14 de novembro, a programação continua com conferências, painéis e apresentações de trabalhos acadêmicos, que este ano ultrapassaram a marca de 80 resumos expandidos submetidos. A lista com os(as) pesquisadores(as) selecionados(as) será divulgada no dia 6 de novembro, quinta-feira.

On November 13th and 14th, the programming continues with conferences, panels and presentations of academic papers, which this year exceeded the mark of 80 expanded abstracts submitted. The list of the selected researchers will be released on November 6th, Thursday.

Among the confirmed international guests are Dr Zhao ShuHong from the Beijing University (China), Professor Raul Márquez from the University of Barcelona (Spain) and Dr Eyder Bolívar Mojica from the University of Envigado (Colombia).

Free registrations and open to the public

Students, magistrates, civil servers, legal operators and interested in general can participate free of charge. At the time of registration, it is necessary to choose or not one of the available mini-courses.

About the congress

Consolidated as the largest event of Esmat, the International Congress on Human Rights is held in partnership with the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT) and it has the support of institutions such as Copedem, Axia Energy, former Eletrobrás (Brazilian Power Plants S.A), Fapto (Foundation for Scientific and Technological Support of the state of of Tocantins), Capes, Asmeto (Association of Magistrates of the State of Tocantins), CNE (National Council of Education) and ILANUD/ ONU (United Nations Latin American Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders).

The full coordination of the event is by Justice Marco Villas Boas, general director of Esmat and president of Copedem. The scientific coordination is in charge of Professor Tarsis Barreto Oliveira, coordinator of the Post-Graduate Program in Judicial Provision and Human Rights (PPGGPDH/UFT).
