Registrations For Seminar On Preventing Slave Labor Runs Until October 23rd

With the aim of reflecting on the eradication of contemporary slave labor in the State of Tocantins (TO), the Regional Labor Court of the 10th Region (TRT-10) will hold the Seminar on Prevention, Repression and Assistance in Combating Slave Labor in the State of Tocantins. The event will take place on October 25th (Friday), from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., in the Auditorium of the Federal Justice - Judicial Section of TO, 201 North Block, Set 01, 02A, S/n - 103 North, in the city of Palmas.

The meeting is organized by the TRT-10 Subcommittee to Combat Slave Labor, as part of the Program to Combat Slave Labor and Human Trafficking and to Protect Migrant Labor of the Superior Council of Labor Justice (CSJT), together with the Federal Court and the State Court of the State of TO. The partnership stems from joint work with the Judiciary Forum for Monitoring and Effectiveness of Demands Related to Exploitation of Labor in Conditions Similar to Slavery and Trafficking in Persons (FONTET) in the State of TO.

The target audience is Judges, magistrates and civil servers from the TRT, the State Courts of TO and the Federal Courts, linked to the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region (TRF1). Members of the State Prosecution, especially the Labor Prosecution (MPT), labor inspectors, lawyers and representatives of civil society can also register.

The course is 7 hours long. The discussions will cover current topics such as: environmental racism and the fight against contemporary slave labor; perspectives on the prevention of slave labor and production chains in the State of TO; slave labor and gender; civil society in the fight for the right to land and the fight against slave labor in the State of TO; protocols for action and trial with a view to confront contemporary slave labor; as well as strategies for inspection, repression and post-rescue actions against enslaved workers.
