Mental Health is a debate in a round of conversation held at Esmat

The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT) together with the Center for Reception and Psychosocial Support (NAPSI) team held, on the afternoon of Tuesday (27th), a round of conversation with the servers of the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins about the importance of the suicide prevention.

The action, conducted by the psychiatrist Leonardo Rodrigo Baldaçara and the psychologist Carlos Mendes Rosa, was held in the auditorium of Esmat and it was moderated by Wordney Camarço, psychiatrist at Napsi/TJTO.

The psychologist Carlos Mendes Rosa stressed the importance of learning and seeking self-knowledge, “it seems to me that knowing what we truly want and desire is fundamental for us to have mental health”, he said.

In his speech, he stressed how sadness is also part of the human existence and should not be demonized, “suffering can teach, I want you to understand that it is through suffering that we can stop and look at ourselves. But what most of us do is exactly the opposite of this; eradicating suffering makes us keep running and running without looking at ourselves”, Carlos commented.

The psychiatrist Leonardo Rodrigo Baldaçara approached concepts and historical aspects of the mental disorders, the prevention and promotion of mental health in the community and in the workplace, and how to act in certain situations, “the suicidal behavior and risk is a medical emergency; attempts, planning, agitated, psychotic, or intoxicated people need to be taken to the emergency room, and the best service to do it is Samu”, he explained.

During his presentation, the speaker stressed that the discussion about the subject is necessary so that people can understand its importance and seek specialized help. “Suicide is a public health problem and one of the main causes of death among young people around the world”, he said.

Held in a hybrid format, the event, aimed at Judges, civil servers, and employees from the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins, was also broadcast live to the districts of the State.
