Civil servers and trainees of the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins participated, on October 23rd and 24th, in the course on "Portuguese Language: Grammar and Official Writing". With a workload of 16 hours and conducted in person, the training was taught by Judge Márcio Barcelos Costa.

The training, promoted by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) and coordinated by Judge Wellington Magalhães, aimed to develop technical and linguistic skills for the elaboration of administrative and judicial acts with clarity, precision and impersonality, in accordance with the Writing Manual of the Presidency. The proposal is also aligned with the institutional policy of valuing simple language and accessible communication.

During the course, participants reviewed grammatical fundamentals and official writing practices, with exercises aimed at the production, review and textual standardization of documents such as letters, memoranda, decisions and judgments.

In his testimony, Professor Márcio highlighted the importance of using simple language in the legal context.

“The CNJ already has a project on simple language, and the Court of Justice has adopted and implemented this proposal. We are finishing the course reviewing grammar and text production with the students. I believe that we had an excellent result", commented.

The civil server Maria Clara Rezende highlighted the practical application of learning in daily administrative activities.

“Dr Márcio highlighted the importance of a clear, objective and accessible communication in the public service, showing that eliminating excessive formalities and juridics does not impoverish the text, but makes it more human and understandable. We saw that writing in a simple way is essential to ensure access to Justice and bring the Judiciary closer to society", said.
