The second class of the course on Prevention and Female Personal Defense brought together civil servers, magistrates, collaborators and trainees from the counties of Araguaína, Philadelphia, Wanderlândia, Xambioá, Colinas do Tocantins and Guaraí for training aimed at strengthening autonomy and personal protection. Held on October 24th, at the Forum of the County of Araguaína, the activity had an eight-hour workload and combined theory, practice and exchange of experiences.
The training integrates the actions of the Program for Protection, Humanized and Solidary Reception to Women of the Judiciary - PAHS -, promoted by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat). The objective is to create a more secure, welcoming and egalitarian institutional environment for all women working in the Judicial System of the state of Tocantins.
Instructor responsible for the course, the specialist in urban combat and self-defense Leonardo Rodrigues de Souza emphasized the importance of technical preparation combined with prevention.
“It is extremely valuable that the course is being taught in a partnership format. We noticed the participants attentive, wanting to learn and evolve. We worked with the protocol of prevention versus containment, and they showed awareness of the need to know how to act - and react - effectively.
For Yasmin Vitória Xavier, a trainee at Court of the Domestic Violence, the training exceeded expectations and had a direct impact on her perception of security.
“It’s very rewarding. We learn techniques that help us to develop posture and deal with the feeling of vulnerability. This gives us more security, makes us more comfortable and even improves self-esteem", she shared.
The initiative is in line with the Recommendation 102 of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), which guides courts throughout the country to adopt integrated measures to prevent violence against women within the Judiciary. The course, which is coordinated by Judge Cirlene Maria de Assis Santos Oliveira, follows with two more scheduled classes, being Class III held in the district of Araguatins on October 30th and Class IV in the district of Gurupi on November 18th.
