Registrations Are Open For Course On Gender Identity In The Judiciary

Registrations are now open for the course on Gender Identity, promoted by the National Council of Justice (CNJ), which aims to provide guidance on the applicability of the use of the social name by trans people, transvestites and transsexuals who use the services of the Judiciary. The start of registrations coincides with the commemoration of the International LGBTQIA+ Pride Day, celebrated this Friday (June 28th).

There are 100 vacancies available for Judges, civil servers, trainees and outsourced workers from Brazilian courts. The training will be carried out remotely through the virtual platform managed by the Training and Improvement Center (Ceajud/CNJ), with a 60-hour workload. Registrations are free and they can be done throughout the second half of 2024.

The qualification is self-instructional and it can be completed according to the pace and time available to each student, once the activities are completed by December of this year.

There are two forms of assessment: in the first, the student must complete the entire training course (reading, videos and exercises). In the second, the participant will have to complete an activity, which will require a 60% mark. Finally, the assessment and then the certificate will be released.

The course is based on the Resolution 270/2018 of the CNJ, which disposes for the use of social names by trans people, transvestites and transsexuals who use judicial services. The initiative aims to enable members of the judiciary to offer a quality service to the LGBTQIA+ population, preventing them from suffering yet another type of violence, institutional violence.

Course schedule

Among the topics to be covered by the course are human rights, multiculturalism and universalism, Decree No. 8,727/2016, Resolution No. 270/2018, self-identification, sexual orientation and gender expressions.
