Esmat Promotes A Theory And Practice Course On The Sentence Dosimetry

The course on "Theory and Practice on the Sentence Dosimetry" began on the morning of Wednesday (May 31st), at the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT). The training, which was attended by magistrates and advisors from the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins, aims to deepen the knowledge on the construction and grounds of the penal sentence.

In the morning, the students had the opportunity to participate in Module I, which approached the introductory considerations and the fundamentals of the principles related to the sentence dosimetry.

In the afternoon, the activities continue with Module II, focused on deepening knowledge about the basis for a conviction, with emphasis on mitigating and aggravating circumstances. Participants will have the opportunity to study the criteria for solving homogeneous and heterogeneous crimes, in addition to learning about the hierarchical scale of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and understanding the modulation of the penalty reducing and enhancing fraction in relation to the lesser and greater circumstances, respectively.

The course, taught by Judge Thales Flores Taipina, will continue until June 2nd, providing participants with a complete and in-depth training in the field of sentence dosimetry. Judge Thales, besides sharing his vast knowledge and experience in the area, also brought with him a unique opportunity: the sale of the updated version of his book "Sentencing Manual", released in 2023.
