Registrations are open for the judicial precedents course: theory and practice

Registrations are open until August 24th, 2021, for the course on Judicial Precedents: Theory and Practice, to be given by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT), with a total classload of 70 hours, in the distance learning modality (EaD).

The course aims to train Judges and public servers to be able to recognize the characteristics and reasons that justify the legal system based on the logic of precedents. Moreover, they will be competent to work with the tools of the legal system in force, identifying the elements that make up the precedent, as well as the operational techniques brought by the new CPC for its establishment, in order to understand the unique role of the magistrate in the implementation of judicial precedents.

40 vacancies are being offered, distributed among magistrates from the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins; legal advisors to magistrates; and servers from the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins.

The classes will be held via the Platform of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT), from August 26th to October 19th, 2021.

About the Professors:

Daniel Francisco Mitidiero

Post-Doctorate in Law from the Facoltà di Giurisprudenza dellUniversità degli Studi di Pavia (UNIPV). PhD in Law from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Associate Professor of Civil Procedural Law at the Law School of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). He lectures regularly in legal events in Brazil and abroad. He has published 34 books and several articles in his area of concentration in Brazil and abroad. Winner of the 51st Jabuti Award (2009) and the 59th Jabuti Award (2017). Along with Luiz Guilherme Marinoni and Sérgio Cruz Arenhart, he is the coordinator of the collection "Comments on the Civil Procedure Code" and the collection "The New Civil Procedure", both published by Courts Magazine Editor (São Paulo). Together with Michele Taruffo, Eduardo Oteiza and Jordi Nieva Fenoll, he is the director of the collection "Process and Law" of editor Marcial Pons (Madrid - Buenos Aires - São Paulo). Member of the International Association of Procedural Law (IAPL), Associazione Italiana fra gli Studiosi del Processo Civile (Italian Association of Civil Trial Scholars) (AISPC), Instituto Iberoamericano de Derecho Procesal (IberoAmerican Institute of Procedural Law) (IIDP), Associación Argentina de Derecho Procesal (Argentine Association of Procedural Law ) (AADP) and Brazilian Institute of Procedural Law (IBDP). Simone Trento

Judge of Law of the TJPR. Graduated in Law from the University of São Paulo. Specialist in Judicial Policy and Administration of Justice from PUC-PR. Master's and Doctorate in Law from the Federal University of Paraná. She has already acted as an instructor Judge and as an auxiliary Judge in the office of a Justice of the STJ. Currently, she is an Auxiliary Judge for the Presidency of TSE and Ombudsman of TSE. She teaches post-graduate courses in Law in Brasília.

 

Marcelo Ornellas Marchiori

Secretary of Precedent Management of the STF. Former Chief Advisor of the Precedent Management Center of the STJ. Member of the Judiciary Intelligence Center. Guest Professor of the Post-Graduation of the Escola da Advocacia Geral da União and of the Post-Graduation of the Escola da OAB de São Paulo. Paula Pessoa Pereira

Paulo Mendes de Oliveira

Luiz Henrique Krassuski Fortes

Professor of Civil and Constitutional Procedural Law and senior lawyer in Brasília/DF, associated to the law firm Barroso Fontelles, Barcellos & Mendonça (BFBM). He is currently the Vice-Secretary-General of the Brazilian Association of Civil Procedural Law, a member of the Institute of Lawyers of the Federal District, of the Brazilian Association of Constitutional Procedural Law, of the Brazilian Institute of Procedural Law, and of the Commission of Advocacy in the Superior Courts of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB/DF). He is pursuing his doctorate in Civil/Constitutional Procedural Law at the Federal University of Paraná Law School, in addition to his bachelor's and master's degrees in Law from the same institution. He has also worked as a Cabinet Officer in a Minister's office at the Federal Supreme Court.
