For those without basic documents, such as a birth certificate, access to essential services can become limited. In order to change this reality, the city of Palmas receives between April 13th and 17th, the 4th Week for National Civil Registration – Register Yourself.
Coordinated by the National Council of Justice, the action takes place simultaneously in the State and it brings together institutions of the Justice System and local partners to ensure free and simplified access to basic civil documentation. The proposal is to address civil under registration and promote social inclusion, bringing services directly to the most vulnerable communities.
In the state of Tocantins, the initiative is articulated by the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO) and it brings together a network of partner institutions, such as the City Hall of Palmas, the Government of the State, the State Prosecution of Tocantins, the Public Defender’s Office of the State of Tocantins, the Brazilian Bar Association - Tocantins Sectional and the Natural Persons Registrars Association, in addition to the civil registrars offices of the city of Palmas and community entities.
The expectation is to serve people who have never been registered, who have lost documents or who need to regularize their civil situation. In addition to the issuance of documents, the action also offers legal support and guidance, expanding the scope of services and ensuring that the citizen not only gets the registration, but also understands and exercises their rights.
