With the aim of strengthening access to essential civil documentation and ensuring fundamental rights, the General Internal Affairs of Justice of the state of Tocantins (CGJUS) integrates the mobilization of the 4th Week for National Civil Registration – Register Yourself. In the state, the task force will be held in the city of Palmas, from May 13th to 17th, bringing together partner institutions to ensure direct care to the vulnerable population.
In this 2026 edition, in addition to the traditional services of issuance and regularization of documents, the programming includes the start and continuation of processes of name correction and gender for trans and cross-dressing people, expanding the scope of the initiative and reinforcing the commitment to citizenship, inclusion and dignity.
The action aimed at rectification will be organized with direct support from the Directorate of Diversity and Social Inclusion (DDIS), in partnership with the Register Yourself National Campaign – state of Tocantins and the Association of Cross-dressers and Transsexuals of the state of Tocantins (Atrato), ensuring specific guidance to interested people.
During the task force, it will be possible to initiate the process of name and gender change in the civil registry. Those who have already filed the application with the Public Defender’s Office or by other means, but have not yet completed the process, may also participate in order to receive guidance and continue the procedure.
To integrate the action, it is necessary to fill in the electronic form provided by the organization. After registration, the participants will be included in a temporary WhatsApp group, where detailed information about necessary documentation, steps of the process and other guidance related to service will be passed through.
The initiative reinforces that the right to a civil name and identity is an instrument of recognition, access to public policies and full exercise of citizenship, especially for trans and cross-dressing people who historically face social and institutional barriers in full access to fundamental rights and formal recognition of their civic identity.
