Members of the Sustainable TO Network held the first meeting of the year, last Friday (Feb 6th), at the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO). Among the main deliberations were the holding of the VI Seminar on Socio-Environmental Management and the approval of the event commemorating the World Day of Waste Pickers, held on March 1st, to be held on March 7th at the Federal Institute of the state of Tocantins (IFTO).
Led by the president of the Management Commission of the Sustainable Logistics Plan of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (CGPLS/ TJTO), Ângela Prudente, the meeting also brought another important deliberation: the approval of the Work Plan of the Sustainable TO Network for 2026.
“The approval of our Work Plan for 2026 marks the beginning of a cycle of great achievements, such as the construction of the VI Seminar on Socio-Environmental Management. With the support of Cogersa and the engagement of the institutions that make up the Sustainable TO Network, we have set clear goals for an increasingly efficient management, always guided by integration and dialogue. Our objective is to consolidate a collaborative action among the institutions, ensuring that the social and environmental goals leave the paper and transform the reality of public management in the state of Tocantins", said the president of CGPLS, Ângela Prudente.
Seminar
Held by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat), with support from the Coordination of Socio-Environmental Management and Social Responsibility (Cogersa), the 6th edition of the seminar will have as theme: "Sustainability as an institutional value: environmental challenges and paths to the future". The event will have a hybrid format and it will bring together national experts to discuss environmental management, climate, circular economy and sustainable governance in the public sector. It is scheduled for June of 2026, at the auditorium of the TJTO in the city of Palmas.
The seminar agenda includes a keynote speech on sustainability as a public sector guideline, panels on climate change and social justice, as well as discussions on reverse logistics and carbon markets. The initiative seeks to broaden the dialogue between institutions and society, stimulating innovative solutions for socio-environmental management and strengthening sustainable public policies.
Sustainable TO Network
The Sustainable TO Network was formalized through the Term of Technical Cooperation no 10, of 2024, and it brings together organs of the Justice System, public institutions, universities and partner entities, with the objective of promoting technical cooperation, Exchange of experiences and implementation of joint actions aimed at sustainability. The approved plan organizes the calendar of 2026 with initiatives such as solidarity campaigns, actions on environmental dates, training, technical studies on valuing the work of waste pickers and strengthening selective collection projects and circular economy.
Members of the Network: representatives of the TJTO, through CGPLS and Cogersa; Government of the State of Tocantins, represented by the Secretariat of Environment and Water Resources (Semarh); Municipality of Palmas-TO, represented by the Municipal Foundation of Environment (FMA); State Prosecution of Tocantins (MPETO); Regional Electoral Court of the state of Tocantins (TRE-TO); State Public Defender’s Office of Tocantins (DPETO); Court of Auditors of the State of Tocantins (TCE-TO); Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of the state of Tocantins (IFTO); Federal University of the state of Tocantins (UFT); Brazilian Agricultural, Fisheries and Aquaculture Research Company/TO (Embrapa); National Industrial Learning Service (Senai); Energisa Tocantins Energy Distributor S.A.; Social Service of Commerce (Sesc); and University of the State of Tocantins (Unitins).
