
September is marked by the National Day of Organ Donation. Allusive to the date, the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO) held, next Tuesday (September 30th), at 3 pm, the Awareness Campaign on Organ and Tissue Donation, with simultaneous programming in the auditorium of the TJTO, in the city of Palmas, and in the auditorium of the Forum of the District of Araguaína.
The initiative highlights values that guide the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins, such as citizenship, humanized care and social responsibility, reinforcing the importance of the gesture of solidarity that transforms lives.
Promoted by the Health Center of the TJTO (Cesau), in partnership with the Transplant Center of the state of Tocantins (Cetto), the event aims to sensitize magistrates, civil servers, trainees and outsourced employees about the importance of organ and tissue donation.
Programming
In the city of Palmas, the programming will have the participation of Ophthalmologist Ana Beatriz Dias, who will talk about the importance of corneal donation. Technical officer of Cetto, Physician Márcio Augusto Violento, will present the state panorama of organ donation. Doctor Rodolfo Vargas, from Hemorrede, will address the issue of bone marrow donation.
In the District of Araguaína, the lecture will be given by the nurse of the Intra-Hospital Organ and Tissue Donation Commission for Transplants of the Regional Hospital of Araguaína, Lunary Neves Maciel Baum, who will bring a view at the local organ donation scene.
By opening space for information and dialogue, the campaign seeks to bring myths down, clarify doubts and encourage a conscious decision about donation, showing that a single gesture can save several lives.
Donation
The donation is regulated by the Law no 9.434, of 1997, and by the Decree no 9.175, of 2017, which provide for the removal of organs, tissues and parts of the human body for transplant and treatment purposes.
Organs such as kidney, liver, heart, pancreas and lung can be donated, as well as tissues such as cornea, skin, bones, heart valves, cartilage, bone marrow and cord blood. Some of these acts may be done while still alive, such as the donation of a kidney, part of the liver or bone marrow.
