More Than A Day: Tjto Promotes Event That Reinforces The Fight For Racial Equality

This Monday (December 16th), the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO) will hold a special event in celebration of the Black Consciousness, with the theme on “Black Consciousness is More Than One Day”. The initiative highlights the importance of recognizing and celebrating the resistance and struggle of black people as a daily practice, going beyond the commemorative date.

The event, which will take place at the Inovassol Space of the TJTO, will feature a diverse programming focused on reflections on racial equality and the strengthening of black voices in different spaces of power. With lectures, cultural presentations and relevant discussions, the proposal is to reinforce that the fight for racial equality must be constant and collective.

Lectures

Among the highlights is the lecture on “Quality of Service from a Racial Perspective”, given by Jândria Maria Rodrigues dos Santos, a specialist in State Law and racial diversity. With more than 20 years of academic and legal experience, the speaker will discuss how service in public bodies can be improved through an inclusive and respectful approach to racial issues. The presentation will take place at 4:25 p.m. and it promises to provide fundamental reflections for a more inclusive and humane justice system.

Afterwards, Mariana Marinho Machado, a Judge at the Court of Justice of the State of Piauí, will present the lecture on “Representativeness of Black Women in Positions of Power”. With a remarkable career in the judiciary and dedicated to teaching and debating diversity issues, she will highlight the challenges and achievements of black women who occupy historically denied spaces.

Presentations

In addition to the lectures, the event will feature cultural presentations such as an art exhibition by the “Jar of Gold” (Pote de Ouro) Arts group, poetry recitations by poet Cassio Charles Borges and a musical performance by the “Ebony Voices” (Vozes do Ébano) group, which will close the programming at 6pm.
