TJTO Elects Board For The Biennium 2025/2027; Justice Maysa Vendramini Will Be The New President

In a regular session held on Thursday (October 3rd), the full Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO) elected the Board of Directors that will administer the State Judiciary in the biennium 2025/2027. By unanimous vote, Justice Maysa Vendramini Rosal, current General Chief of Justice, was chosen for the position of President of the Court.

The position of vice President of the TJTO was elected to the Jacqueline Adorno, while Justice Pedro Nelson de Miranda Coutinho will be the Chief Justice and Justice Adolfo Amaro Mendes the Deputy Chief Justice.

Justice Marco Villas Boas continues in the General board of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) together with Justice Angela Issa Haonat, who follows as 1st Deputy Director. 

The name of Justice João Rodrigues Filho was also defined as the new Judicial Ombudsman and Justice Eurípedes Lamounier as a substitute Judicial Ombudsman. For the Women’s Ombudsman, was elected Justice Angela Prudente.

In the case of the position of coordinator of the Judicial Center for Conflict Resolution and Citizenship (Cejusc) of the 2nd degree, the choice will occur after the inauguration of the new board of Directors.

TRE-TO

Também estava na pauta a eleição dos cargos de juízes membros do Tribunal Regional Eleitoral (TRE-TO), conforme previsto no Capítulo II do Regimento Interno do Tribunal Pleno. Foram eleitos o magistrado Marcelo Faccioni como membro titular da Corte Eleitoral e o juiz Rafael Gonçalves de Paula como substituto.

The election of Judges to the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-TO) was also on the agenda, as provided for in the Chapter II of the Internal Rules of Procedure of the Full Court. The Electoral Court elected Marcelo Faccioni as its full member of the Electoral Court and Judge Rafael Gonçalves de Paula as its substitute.

Faith, courage and cooperation

As elected President, Justice Maysa Vendramini Rosal thanked her peers for their votes and said she was aware of the size of the responsibility she will have to head the Presidency of the Court for the next two years. The elected President has ensured continuity to the projects of the current management. "I count on the support of all the peers who today gave me this vote of confidence, especially to Justice Jacqueline, who is a person with great experience in public management," she said, highlighting that with a well-trained team by Esmat, she will certainly make a good management, with great advances.

The Justice highlighted that her time in the General Internal Affairs of Justice contributed to today feel much more strengthened to assume the position. "I learned that no one does anything alone," she said.

We are here today to fulfill our mission with faith, courage and cooperation.

Regarding the transition report of her management in the Internal Affairs, the elected President informed that the document is ready and it will be passed on to her substitute, Justice Pedro Nelson.

In turn, the elected Chief Justice also thanked the votes received and spoke of the tranquility that has to integrate the management of Justice Maysa Vendramini. On the occasion, congratulated Justice Etelvina Maria Sampaio Felipe for the serene management. "My plan at first is to make a management focused on the judiciary," he said, reinforcing that he also intends to continue the work developed in the current management.

Transparent, serene and balanced transition 

At the end of the session, the President of the TJTO, Justice Etelvina Maria Sampaio, congratulated the elected and wished her a very successful management. She recalled that the 2023/2025 biennium made history with a Board of Directors formed by four women and it will be succeeded by two women and two men.

Already in a farewell tone, the current President of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins said that there are still 74 working days to work and commented that, in the ten regimental days, the Transition Report will be available to the new President and her team.

At the opportunity, she wished the new management lightness to continue the work of all previous administrations with the aim of improving more and more the service to the citizens of the State of Tocantins.

The inauguration of the new Board of Directors and other elected members will be held on the first working day of February of 2025, in a solemn session at the Plenary Session of the TJTO, according to the Internal Regiment of the Full Court.

Justice Maysa Vendramini Rosal (President)

Born in the city of Goiânia (GO), married and mother of two children, Justice Maysa Vendramini is graduated in Law from the Anhanguera College of Humanities of the city of Goiânia and in Social Communication and Journalism by the Federal University of the State of Goiás. She specialized in the areas of Family Law, Criminal Law, Criminal Procedural Law, Constitutional Law and Administrative Law. Justice Jacqueline Adorno de La Cruz Barbosa (vice-President)

Current Deputy Chief Justice, Justice Jacqueline Adorno de La Cruz Barbosa is a native of the city of Anápolis (GO). Graduated from the Law School of the Federal University of the State of Goiás (UFG) and she is a specialist in Criminal Law and Procedural Law by the Police Academy of the State of Goiás. Justice Pedro Nelson de Miranda Coutinho (General Chief Justice)

Born in Joinville (SC), Justice Pedro Nelson de Miranda Coutinho was born on May 19th, 1964. Took office as a Judge in the State of Tocantins on November 13th, 1989, having been holder of the counties of Ponte Alta do Tocantins, Natividade, Pedro Afonso and, finally, holder of the 3rd Civil Court of the city of Palmas. He took office as a Justice of the TJTO on September 17th, 2020 and served as vice President of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO) between 2021-2023. Justice Adolfo Amaro Mendes (Deputy Chief Justice)

The Justice and current substitute Judicial Ombudsman Adolfo Amaro Mendes was born on August 8th, 1959, in Angola (then a Portuguese colony in Africa). He entered the magistracy of the State of Tocantins in 1989 with the first place in the competition for Judge in the State of Tocantins, State where he chose to stay after being approved, the following year and also in the 1st place, in the competition for Judge in the State of Goiás.
