The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT) continued, on Tuesday afternoon (June 13th), the awareness events about harassment, holding the first part of the Workshop on prevention and confrontation of harassment. The event, developed in person, had as its target audience the servers of NAPsi, Cesau, the Medical Board, members of the Commission, multidisciplinary team of Sinsjusto, members of Sinsjusto, members of ASTJ, according to the Ordinance No. 890, 2023.
The action aims to train the participants to prevent, identify, and adequately deal with cases of harassment in the workplace. Professor Roberto Heloani was responsible for approaching several topics related to the theme on "Harassment, discrimination and its consequences to the physical and psychological health of workers, especially in the Judiciary". In his comments, he highlighted the importance of bringing up this subject, emphasizing the courage needed to address the issue.
"First, I think it is an act of courage to bring this subject here to the Superior School of the Judges. The importance, in my opinion, is visible with the number of harassments we have, both moral and sexual, unfortunately in Brazil we continue being an extremely sexist society, a society, more than that, authoritarian, and this is evidenced by the number of suicides we have as a result of work", he said.
The second and last part of the Workshop, to be held tomorrow (June 14th), will be in charge of the Teacher and Judge Adriana Manta da Silva. In her speech, she emphasized that her presentation will focus on the impact of discrimination and hierarchizing processes on social construction and how this reflects on the work environment, especially in a context of power such as the Judiciary.
"We are today with the Resolution 351 of the National Council of Justice, which has created conditions, in the scope of all courts in the country, for prevention and combat, demonstrating that we have today a zero tolerance policy in relation to moral harassment, sexual harassment, and discrimination in the scope of the Judiciary. So, this event, besides being relevant for the internal public, for the prevention policy, is also relevant for social issues. I think Professor Roberto will focus more on the issues of harassment, combating harassment, and preventing harassment. My presentation, which will take place tomorrow, will focus more on the issues of discrimination, of the direct influence of all the processes, of our social construction based on hierarchizing and discriminatory processes, and how this reverberates and reflects in the work environment, even within a power space such as the Judiciary", she said.
The Workshop has a total workload of 8 hours and it will be concluded tomorrow (June 14th), covering an essential content for awareness and effective action against harassment.
