Seminar On Brazil-France Research Discusses The Legal Protection Of The Environment

The Professional and Interdisciplinary Master's Program in Judicial Provision and Human Rights (PPGPJDH), in partnership with the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT), started on Tuesday (June 27th), the Seminar on Brazil-France Research. The event, which is taking place in Paris, included important conferences related to the theme on "Legal Protection of the Environment".

Opening

The opening ceremony was attended by Marco Villas Boas, General Director of Esmat, and Professor Pauline Le Monnier de Gouville, a professor at Paris Panthéon-Assas University.

During his speech, Justice Marco stressed the importance of the exchange of experiences and scientific research, as well as the opening of new horizons so that the students of the Master’s in Judicial Provision and Human Rights (PPGPJDH) can have access to relevant knowledge and be able to dialogue with the professors of the Institution, providing mechanisms that improve democracy and the quality of life of people, both in the State of Tocantins and in the international context.

Conferences

On the occasion, Justice Marco also spoke about the situation of traditional populations in Brazil, outlining an overview of indigenous peoples and the aspects of material and immaterial heritage that characterize these communities.

Another highlight of the event was the conference given by Gustavo Paschoal Teixeira de Castro Oliveira, Coordinator of the Master’s in Judicial Provision and Human Rights and Professor at the Federal University of the State of Tocantins. He spoke on "Environmental Organizational Guardianship and the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins".

During his presentation, the Coordinator contextualized in a didactic way the importance of the theme, highlighting the need for a joint approach to deal with environmental issues. He highlighted that everyone has the obligation to worry about environmental protection, following the principle of "acting locally and thinking globally".

Paschoal also emphasized the role of the Master's in the State of Tocantins, by capacitating magistrates and servers in issues involving organizational environmental protection and its effectiveness in the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins.

The event also counted with the participation of Doctor and Master in Law, Tarsis Barreto Oliveira, who presented a lecture entitled "The Risk Society and the Typology of Crimes in Environmental Crime". The Seminar on Brazil-France Research continues until tomorrow (June 28th), promoting enriching discussions about the legal protection of the environment and strengthening the academic dialogue between the two countries.
