The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) held, on February 10th and 11th, the first class of the course on "Simple Language Workshop," aimed at magistrates, civil servers, and trainees of the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins working in the General Internal Affairs of Justice (CGJUS).
With the coordination of Judge Marcelo Laurito Paro, the training is conducted by facilitators André Vinicius D'i Oliveira Gomes and Lucas Ferreira Gomes. Throughout the modules, the participants studied the fundamentals of the Simple Language, identification of communication barriers in institutional texts, techniques for a clear writing and participated in a practical workshop on rewriting documents and communicates used in the everyday life of the Judiciary.

In a testimony, the laboratory technician of the Innovation Center (Inovassol), Lucas Ferreira, highlighted that simple language "is an instrument of access to Justice", by allowing the citizen to understand decisions, subpoenas and guidelines with more confidence. For him, investing in training on this subject strengthens transparency, reduces communication noise and brings the Judiciary closer to the population, as well as improving internal communication and optimizing team productivity.
“When the citizen understands a decision, a subpoena, or an orientation, he/she participates more consciously in the process and exercises his/her rights with greater confidence", he commented.
The coordinator of Inovassol, André Vinícius, also stressed the practical nature of the training. "The course is multidisciplinary, we are working in practice with documents prepared by the General Internal Affairs itself, transforming them into simple language. It’s very intuitive and the class is well-versed", he said.
The initiative dialogues with the National Policy of Simple Language, established by the Law No. 15.263 of 2025, and it reinforces national commitments aimed at adopting a clearer, more direct and understandable communication in the Judiciary.
The second class of the workshop is scheduled for February 26th and 27th.
