On Monday (September 9th), the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) began a course on Drafting Civil and Special Court Sentences, aimed at advisors to magistrates of the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins. The training will continue until the end of the week, in person, with a total of 16 class hours.

Coordinated by Judge Wellington Magalhães and taught by Judge and Professor Tiago Gagliano Pinto Alberto, the course aims to train participants in the drafting of judgments, emphasizing the analysis and understanding of facts, the evaluation of oral evidence, and the construction of legal reasoning, ensuring well-founded, swift decisions that are in line with the principles of the due process.

The course methodology combines theory and practice through case studies, sentence writing exercises, group debates, and interactive dynamics. The program content is divided into four stages: fundamentals of sentencing, analysis of facts, evaluation of oral evidence, and a practical workshop on drafting decisions.

According to legal advisor Laisa Araújo, the first day of activities was promising.

“It has been a very enriching experience. The content, as it has been presented, is useful not only for its practical approach, but also for highlighting theoretical fundamentals—such as the topic of typological categories addressed today—which are essential for guiding the drafting of clear and well-founded sentences," she commented.

Advisor Ana Claudia Vieira da Silva, from the 1st Civil Court of the district of Porto Nacional, also highlighted the teaching skills of the facilitator: "It was a very good, very dynamic class. The professor managed to keep our attention and get us to interact with the examples he gave. I really enjoyed the first day”.
