On Wednesday (November 6th), the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) held the first meeting of the course on “Foster Family: Care and Protection in the Foster Care Service”. The training, which takes place virtually, is aimed at magistrates and civil servers of the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins, members of the Multidisciplinary Team Management Group, managers of the Social Assistance Policy and technical teams linked to this policy.
This first class covered the history and parameters of foster care in Brazil, exploring current legislation and the essential role of the Foster Family service, with an emphasis on its principles and methodology. Research that analyze the impact of institutionalization on the lives of children and adolescents was also discussed, providing a broad view of the issue and highlighting the importance of alternatives that promote healthy development and family reintegration.
Facilitators Laizi Souza and Thaís Penha will lead the course until December 13th, totaling 20 hours.
