The Getúlio Vargas Foundation (FGV) Justice has opened registration for magistrates interested in taking part in the course on "The Challenges of Democracy in the 21st Century". The aim of the activity is to train participants in the contemporary challenges of democracy, emphasizing theory, practice and the role of the judiciary in preserving democratic values.
The classes will be held from April 15th to 19th at FGV in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Participants will be able to deepen their knowledge on topics considered essential for debates on democracy, such as the relationship between powers, the environment, structural racism, public security, the role of the Armed Forces, the media and political polarization.

The course is free and limited to fifty vacancies - candidates will go through a selection process run by FGV Justice. According to the Notice, the selection criteria will be the geographical distribution of participants in order to include all States, gender equity and the work of the candidate on issues related to the course theme.

Coordinating the course are Justice Luis Felipe Salomão, from the Superior Court of Justice; Pedro H. Villas Bôas Castelo Branco, Political Scientist and Professor at the Institute of Social and Political Studies at Uerj; and Blanche Marie Evin, PhD in political science from Uerj.
