On Thursday morning (May 11th), the first face to face session of the Mindfulness for Self-Care course took place. Aimed at promoting the integral health and well-being of magistrates, servers of the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins, and health professionals, this initiative aims especially at taking care of mental health and contributing to the improvement of judicial activities and services.
Throughout eight weekly meetings, with 16-hour sessions, the participants will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and techniques related to the promotion of mental health and the prevention of mental illness. The sessions will be taught by Lucilene Prado e Silva, a specialist on the subject.
The session of today, held in the classroom of Esmat, focused on the contrast between full awareness and autopilot. Participants were able to observe how paying attention to details can reveal some aspects previously unnoticed or forgotten, transforming the experience. In addition, the theme of the wandering of the mind and how this is something natural was addressed.
The next session, scheduled for May 18th, will deal with the influence of interpretations on our thoughts, emotions, and behavior. It will be discussed how a lack of awareness of the interpretations we make of everyday situations can negatively affect our mental health, resulting in problems such as depression, anxiety, and stress.
