National Esa Proposes Partnership With Esmat And Co-Request To Strengthen Actions In Favor Of Humanitarian Justice

The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) and the Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of the Magistracy (Copedem) received, on Thursday (July 24th), the institutional visit of representatives from the National Law School (National ESA). The meeting was held at Esmat, in the city of Palmas and it was attended by other lawyers acting in the state of Tocantins.

In addition to the main agenda, topics such as combating racism, valuing diversity, gender identity and promoting alternative sentences were also discussed.

Another point cited was the support of legal schools to the enforcement of decisions of the Superior Courts and the CNJ. The meeting reinforces the commitment of the institutions to promote inter-institutional dialogue and seek joint solutions to the challenges of the Brazilian justice system.

During the meeting, the director of the National Law School and president of the sectional of the state of Tocantins, Gedeon Pitaluga, presented a proposal for partnership with Esmat and Copedem.

“The intention is to build a cooperation agenda to develop training actions, especially in the context of the Pena Justa (Fair Penalty) Plan, an initiative of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and the National Council of Justice (CNJ), aimed at the qualification of the penitentiary system with focus on human dignity", reinforced.

Justice Marco Villas Boas, general director of Esmat and president of Copedem, stressed the importance of institutional dialogue.

“Esmat and Copedem are open to cooperation with National ESA. Uniting the magistracy and the legal profession in training actions is essential for strengthening humanitarian justice", he said.

The meeting was attended by the general director of Esmat and president of Copedem, Justice Marco Villas Boas, the executive director of Esmat, Ana Beatriz de Oliveira Pretto, as well as the general director of National ESA, Gedeon Pitaluga, the acting president of the BAR-TO, Larissa Rosenda, general director of ESA-TO, Flávia Malachias, chief treasures of the BAR-TO, Pedro Vitor Rabello, and the general attorney for Prerogatives, Aurideia Loiola.
