The Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) held, on February 26th and 27th, the second class of the course on "Simple Language Workshop," aimed at judges, civil servers, and trainees of the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins in the General Internal Affairs of Justice.

The training was coordinated by Judge Marcelo Laurito Paro and conducted by facilitators André Vinicius D'i Oliveira Gomes and Lucas Ferreira Gomes. During the meetings, participants studied the fundamentals of the Simple Language, analyzed communication barriers in institutional texts, knew techniques of clear writing and participated in practical activities of rewriting documents and communiqués used in the daily life of the Judiciary.

Facilitator Lucas Ferreira Gomes highlighted that the two days of workshop showed an environment favorable to incorporating simple language into the routines of the Court and the General Internal Affairs. According to him, simplifying communication does not mean impoverish the content, but broadening understanding.

“When we simplify communication, we promote more transparency, more efficiency and more respect for the citizen and their own civil servers. To innovate is also to make the complex comprehensible. Simple language is a tool of institutional transformation that brings the Judiciary closer to people and reduces invisible barriers that make it difficult to understand decisions and procedures", he emphasized.

For the civil server Sandro Bandeira, the course contributed to reflection on how institutional texts are produced.

“The course was very important for us, civil servers of the General Internal Affairs, because it shows us the need to bring simple language into our daily lives. Many times, we are restricted to our sector and we end up using the juridical without realizing it. The workshop made us reflect on this and understand that we need to communicate in a clearer and more accessible way. With the simple language, we were able to serve the public better, more closely and more efficiently", he said.

The initiative is aligned with the National Policy of Simple Language, established by the Law 15.263, and it integrates actions aimed at adopting a clearer, more direct and understandable communication within the Judiciary.
