Training In Hetero-Identification Promotes Reflection On The Historical And Social Dimensions Of Racism

This Wednesday (August 30th), the second day of training for members of the Permanent Commission for Hetero-identification of the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins, focused on racial equality policies. The activities take place in person at the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT), until September 1st, in an initiative that seeks to prepare the participants to conduct the hetero-identification process in an ethical, impartial and respectful manner.

The first day of the course focused on presenting the historical and social dimensions of racism. The teaching team is made up of Solange Aparecida do Nascimento, George França dos Santos and Ana Paula dos Santos. Coordinated by the Judge Renata do Nascimento e Silva, the action is in line with the Resolution 478 of the National Council of Justice of 2022.

In this sense, Professor Solange do Nascimento emphasized the importance of the course for the training of members of the judiciary in relation to the expansion of quota policies. "This course is extremely necessary for the training of the Judiciary because of the expansion of the quota policy in recent years, especially with regard to public contests, and so that people take ownership of the concepts and negotiations in relation to the issue of racism," commented Solange.

Professor George França dos Santos also spoke about the relevance of the training. "This is an important course because we are studying and reflecting on the issue of affirmative action in public institutions and how these actions can be applied effectively. There is a certain tendency for these affirmative actions to become increasingly stronger in the coming years. So it's important that public institutions in the State of Tocantins take this seriously, create their teams and carry out their work with dynamism," he explained.

Also given by Professor Ana Paula dos Santos, the specialist highlighted the dimension of hetero-identification as a guarantee of public policies and the fight against structural racism. "We consider the act of hetero-identification a fundamental point for guaranteeing public policies, beyond the reservation of vacancies, beyond racial understanding and literacy. Hetero-identification is an action at the end of the competition activity, for example, to ensure that the law is complied with, because during the self-declaration processes there can still be some kind of mistake, not always in bad faith, but something that is sought, and this can be remedied at the end, which is why it is important to train the civil servers who will probably work in competitions," said Ana.

The creation of the Permanent Commission for Hetero-identification in the Judiciary is an important mark in promoting equality, diversity and justice. By adopting measures that recognize and respect ethnic and racial diversity, the Judiciary of the State of Tocantins will be complying with the constitutional principles of human dignity and equality.
