About the New Law of Public Biddings

The New Law of Public Biddings (Law no. 14,133, of 2021) was sanctioned on April 1st, 2021, and unified the legal regime on biddings and administrative contracts in Brazil. The law will replace, during a two-year transition period, the General Bidding Law (Law No. 8,666, 1993), the “Pregão” Law (Law No. 10,520, 2002), and the Special Contracting Regime (RDC), Law No. 12,462, 2011, and will add several topics related to public procurement. The new framework consolidates important procedural flexibilities and simplifications, and intends to facilitate, in practice, the conduct of bidding procedures.
