The Manager Committee of the Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (LIIARES/ Esmat) held, last Friday (September 20th), its first deliberative meeting. At the meeting, the bases of the notice that will regulate the selection of scientific projects focused on technological innovation in the Justice System were approved.

The proposal includes the granting of research grants, definition of participation criteria and strategies for institutional dissemination of the work developed. During the meeting, the representative of the Pedagogical Supervision of ESMAT, Jadir Alves de Oliveira, presented the bases of the notice.

May apply researchers linked to graduate lato or stricto sensu courses, former students and post doctorals. It was also discussed the possibility of inclusion of projects without grant, since aligned with the guidelines of the Laboratory and with potential institutional impact.

For the general coordinator of the Committee, Justice Ângela Issa Haonat, the meeting represents a significant step in stimulating scientific production in the State.

“At its first meeting, the Committee took an important step to foster legal research in the State. The main topic discussed was the definition of details for the launch of a notice of selection of researchers, with the aim of contemplating a range of academic levels and experiences. In this debate, there was consensus: the main focus of this first notice will be the democratization of access to research. We discussed the number of vacancies, evaluation criteria, duration of projects, and value of grants and, most importantly, the inclusion of different profiles. Thus, we guarantee, in a democratic way, the participation of post-graduates, participants of LATO SENSU courses, attending masters, doctoral students, graduates and also postdoctoral applicants. This meeting reinforces the commitment of Esmat to promote the production of knowledge in an inclusive manner, opening doors and opportunities for students, Justice System professionals and researchers at different stages of their careers. The expectation is that the notice will be launched later this year, with projects that will begin in 2026, boosting research and contributing to the development of legal and innovative thinking in the state of Tocantins", explained.

In addition to the general coordinator, Justice Ângela Issa Haonat, participated in the meeting the scientific coordinator of the Committee, Doctor Professor Humberto Xavier de Araújo; the executive coordinator, Ana Beatriz de Oliveira Pretto; the assistant judges directors of ESMAT, Wellington Magalhães and Roniclay Alves de Morais; the representative of the Pedagogical Supervision of ESMAT, Jadir Alves de Oliveira; the student representative, Lily Sany Silva Leite; Angelo Stacciarini Seraphin (DTINF (Directorate of Information Technology )/TJTO); and André Vinícius D'i Oliveira Gomes (Inovassol (Innovation Center of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins)).
