The Electronic Information System of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (SEI/TJTO) has undergone a major update to improve accessibility to its documents for people with visual impairments, low vision, and dyslexia. The initiative responds to a request from the Permanent Commission for Accessibility and Inclusion (CPAI/TJTO).
With the changes, official documents are now generated using the Calibri font (sans serif), which is considered more legible and accessible for readers with visual impairments. SEI also gained an accessibility button that allows text to be aligned to the left. For the CPAI, the measure represents a step forward in ensuring that all official documents are produced in an accessible format.
“By ensuring that our official documents can be read and understood more clearly by people with disabilities, civil servers, and citizens with low vision, dyslexia, or even those who access our systems on mobile devices, we are strengthening the principle of human dignity and improving the communication efficiency of our Administration," said President of the CPAI Justice Ângela Haonat, highlighting that the measures are in line with national and international best practices for accessibility, backed by the Brazilian Law for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities.

Before the update, documents were produced in Times New Roman font, with justified alignment. This format makes reading difficult for people with disabilities and hinders interpretation by screen readers, compromising communication accessibility.
