TJTO Promotes The Second Week Of Dialogues On Equality And Diversity With Free Programming Open To The Public

The second edition of the Week of Dialogues on Equality and Diversity will be held on November 17th and 18th. The event will take place in the auditorium of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO), in a face-to-face format, with live broadcast and free participation and open to the public. The initiative, promoted through the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat), has a workload of 8 class hours and has open registrations, which can be made clicking here.

The proposal of the event is to promote institutional dialogue around issues such as Racial Equality, Sexual Diversity, Gender Equity, Traditional Communities and Accessibility, aligning itself with the guidelines of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) for strengthening fundamental rights.

The opening of the event will be conducted by Judge Renata do Nascimento e Silva, coordinator of the initiative, who also signs the first lecture with a reflection on the multiple meanings of equality in the context of the Judiciary and the concrete challenges for its effectiveness in everyday institutional. In her testimony, the judge pointed out that the Week represents more than a formative moment: it is a call to collective responsibility.

“The II Week of Dialogues on Equality and Diversity reaffirms the commitment of the TJTO on building a plural and inclusive Judiciary. With programming that covers racial equality, rights of traditional communities, gender equity and LGBTQIAPN+ rights, we seek not only to raise awareness but also to mobilize for concrete action. We brought speakers of excellence, including academics (the renowned, magistrates from other courts and, fundamentally, representatives of the communities themselves. This is a space of listening, learning and transformation", she commented.

Among the confirmed speakers are Justice João Marcos Buch, of the Court of Justice of the state of Santa Catarina (TJSC), Professor Rodrigo Ednilson, of the Federal University of the state of Minas Gerais (UFMG), the indigenous Educator Eugislane Karajá, of the Federal University of the state of Tocantins (UFT) and representatives of the TJTO itself, such as the civil servers Hyllaine Asevedo and Eva Portugal, as well as other authorities and experts in the area.

Um dos destaques da programação é a apresentação da peça “Vozes Silenciadas: a luta de Paula por liberdade”, que narra a história real de Paula – mulher negra, escravizada, que, em 1858 (30 anos antes da Lei Áurea), na antiga Comarca de São João da Palma (atual Paranã), ingressou com um pedido de alforria diretamente à Justiça. O espetáculo é uma livre adaptação da petição original, documento histórico preservado e digitalizado pela Esmat.

One of the highlights of the programming is the presentation of the play: "Voices Silenced: the fight of Paula for freedom", which tells the real story of Paula - black woman, enslaved, who in 1858 (30 years before the Golden Law), in the former County of São João da Palma (current Paranã), entered with a request for freed directly to the Justice.
