Registrations For The Xviii International Congress On Human Rights Are Now Open

In a global scenario marked by the fast advancement of technology and the increasing adoption of automated systems in judicial decisions, human rights scholars and researchers face new challenges as well as opportunities. It is in this context that the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) holds, from November 11th to 14th  , the 18th edition of the International Congress on Human Rights, consolidated as the largest training event of the institution and one of the most relevant of the state of Tocantins in the area.

This year, the theme on "The Future of Human Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence" proposes a reflection on the ethical, legal and social limits of the use of technology in public life. The Congress will bring together experts from Brazil, Spain, China and the United States, with the aim of fostering dialogue among increasingly interdependent areas of knowledge: law, technology and fundamental rights.

Registrations

The programming is free and open to the public. Most of the activities take place in the auditorium of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO), with live transmission by the Esmat channel on YouTube, especially designed to meet participants from the interior counties.

In 2024, the event brought together more than 900 registrants among magistrates, civil servers, students, researchers and representatives of public institutions and civil society. The expectation for this edition is to further expand this reach, strengthening the debate on Justice, technology and human rights in a context of digital transformation.

Registrations are already open and they can be made clicking here. The full programming will be released in the coming days.

Mini Courses

In addition to the conferences and thematic tables, the programming includes nine in person mini-courses, with limited vacancies (40 per class) and filling by order of registration. Led by doctors, masters and invited experts, the mini-courses address innovative practices at the intersection of technology and Justice, human rights, gender violence, decision-making methodologies and successful experiences with the use of AI in the public sector.
