Esmat Hosts Jalapão Mosaic Seminar On August 11th And 12th

Next Monday and Tuesday (August 11th and 12th), the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat) will hold the Jalapão Mosaic Seminar. The event will be held entirely in person, with activities in the auditorium and classrooms of Esmat, and it has been structured to stimulate dialogue, training, and the collective construction of solutions for the integrated territorial and environmental management of protected areas.

With a practical and participatory focus, the seminar will bring together public managers, magistrates, civil servers, researchers, representatives of traditional communities, and civil society. The objective is to promote training and awareness about integrated and coordinated territorial and environmental management of protected areas.

The opening magna lecture, scheduled for 8:30 a.m., will be given by Justice Marco Villas Boas, general director of Esmat and president of the Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of the Magistracy (Copedem), on the theme on “Shared and Integrated Management of Protected Areas in the Continental Amazon”.

Also on the first day, thematic panels will discuss the potential and challenges of Conservation Units, with the participation of representatives from ICMBio, EPA (environmental protection area) of Jalapão, RPPN Catedral (Cathedral) of Jalapão and Inema/BA. Next, the panel on “The role of quilombola communities and organized civil society in the management of the Mosaic Jalapão” will broaden the debate with the presence of local leaders and representatives of indigenous peoples. 

On the second day (August 12th), the event will feature a round table discussion, presentation of workshop results, and proposals for future action. Check out the complete schedule here.
