Look attentive, body in motion and active listening. Thus began Class I of the course on Prevention and Self-Defense of Women, held on Friday (October 10th), in the district of Porto Nacional, by the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (Esmat). Aimed at female civil servers, magistrates, collaborators and trainees of the Judiciary, the training brought together participants from five counties: Porto Nacional, Ponte Alta, Natividade, Paraíso do Tocantins and Cristalândia.

During the opening, Judge Cirlene Maria de Assis Santos Oliveira, state coordinator of Women in Situations of Domestic and Family Violence and responsible for coordinating the course, was present, reinforcing the commitment of the protection and institutional strengthening of women.

“The initiative of this course aims to encourage a closer look at personal security strategies and promote empowerment of women through knowledge of practical defense techniques. This action reinforces the commitment on valuing and protecting women in the institutional environment and in society as a whole, with the strengthening of the Institutional Program for the Protection and Humanized Reception of Women of the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins".

With an eight-hour workload, the training is conducted by Professor Leonardo Rodrigues de Souza, a specialist in personal defense and urban combat, with support from instructor Diana Araujo de Almeida.

The content addresses both practical aspects - such as self-defense techniques, risk perception and ways of confrontation - and legal and psychological aspects related to violence against women. The next class of the course will be held on October 24th, in the municipality of Araguaína, contemplating other counties of the Northern Region of the State.

The initiative is part of the Program for Protection, Humanized and Solidary Reception to Women of the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins (PAHS), established by the Resolution 18 of 2023. The program aims to promote a safer and more egalitarian work environment, with concrete actions to prevent violence and encourage the autonomy of women working in the Judiciary.
