Esmat Begins Course On Judging From A Gender Perspective

On Tuesday (May 13th), the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT) began the course on Application of the Trial Protocol with a Gender Perspective to Guarantee Access to Justice, held in distance learning mode.

The first module of activities, taught by Professor Fabiana Cristina Severi, had as its main theme: “Justice from a Gender Perspective and Intersectionalities”. She covered topics such as general concepts; analysis of stereotypes and their effects on the law; gender-based violence and the discussion on the importance of the Protocol for access to Justice; and the general guidelines of the trial with a gender perspective.

The course, accredited by the National School for the Training and Improvement of Magistrates (Enfam), aims to enable participants to recognize the complexity and dynamics of violence against women in different procedures, as well as to apply and interpret the National Risk Assessment Form.

The training, which continues until May 30th, is coordinated by Judge Cirlene Maria de Assis Santos Oliveira and it is in line with the Recommendations No. 79, of 2020, and No. 128, of 2022, as well as the Resolution No. 492, of 2023, all from the National Council of Justice (CNJ). 

Meet the teaching staff:

Alice Bianchini, noted advisor to the National Council for the Rights of Women (CNDM);

Eduardo Augusto Salomão Cambi, judge of the Court of Justice of the State of Paraná;

Fabiana Cristina Severi, professor at the Public Law Department of the Ribeirão Preto Law School of the University of the state of São Paulo (USP) and the Master's Program of the same institution;

Luciana Lopes Rocha, assistant judge of the Presidency of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and judge of law of the Domestic and Family Violence Court against Women of the district of Taguatinga/TJDFT;

Soraia da Rosa Mendes, who has a post-doctorate in Contemporary Legal Theories from the Federal University of the state of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a doctorate in Law, State and Constitution from the University of the city of Brasília (UnB).
