STJ Promotes Event To Discuss The 10th Anniversary Of The Code Of Civil Procedure

The Superior Court of Justice (STJ), in partnership with the National School for Training and Improvement of Magistrates (Enfam), carries out next March 16th from 9 am to 7 pm, the event on "10 years of validity of the Code of Civil Procedure in the view of the federal and state Judiciary". The meeting will take place at the Main Hall of the STJ, in the city of Brasília (DF), and it will bring together magistrates from all over the country to assess the advances, challenges and prospects of the Law No. 13.105, of 2015, after a decade of validity.

The initiative aims to stimulate dialogue between federal and state magistrates on the adequacy and effectiveness of the Code of Civil Procedure (CPC) in the daily life of the Brazilian Justice. The debate aims to examine the impacts of legislation on judicial practice, identify possible gaps and present proposals for legislative improvement.

The opening of the event will be attended by the president of the STJ and the Federal Justice Council, minister Herman Benjamin. Then, the minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF), Luiz Fux, who chaired the Commission of Jurists responsible for the preparation of the preliminary draft of the CPC (Code of Civil Procedure) of 2015, will present the inaugural conference with the theme on "The 10 years of validity of the CPC and the impacts on the functioning of the Justice System".

The programming also includes the participation of ministers of the STF Gilmar Mendes and Cármen Lúcia, as well as magistrates and invited experts. Among the panelists are Justice Carlos Alberto de Salles and Judge Fernando da Fonseca Gajardoni, of the Court of Justice of the state of São Paulo.

During the meeting, discussions will address central issues of the application of CPC over the last decade, such as procedural flexibility, qualified precedent management, legal fees and consensual conflict resolution tools.
