President Of The TJTO Highlights Advances And Institutional Commitment When Opening The Judicial Year Of 2026, In Historic Session

“I begin the judicial work of 2026 with the same responsibility and commitment as when I took over the Presidency of this Court (one year ago)." The statement of the president of the Court of Justice of the State of Tocantins (TJTO), Justice Maysa Vendramini Rosal, opened the installation ceremony of the Judicial Year of 2026, held on Monday (Feb 2nd). The historic ceremony marks the first session of the Full Court after the expansion of the collegiate, which went from 12 to 20 justices.

In her speech, the president of the TJTO highlighted the challenges faced and the purpose of strengthening a judicial system that is increasingly transparent, effective and close to society.

“Promote an accessible, agile and close to people Justice has always been among the objectives of our management, based on Justice, Union and Society", said the president.

When presenting the balance of last year, the justice stressed that the advances registered in 2025 are the result of a collective work, and thanked the magistrates, the civil servers and the administrative staff. The president also cited the results in the final activities, the advances in equity policies, accessibility and inclusion, the strengthening of institutional sustainability and the expansion of citizenship actions.

Another highlight was the Jus in Action project, aimed at strengthening the presence of the Judiciary within the State. The initiative led to six counties an integrated set of actions to improve judicial delivery, accelerate processes, take care of magistrates and civil servers, and promote citizenship through free services to the population.

The main results of management in the last year were presented in an institutional video and they are contained in the activity report for the year of 2025. During the ceremony, the authorities were given promotional material in simple language.

The event also brought news to broaden access to information and reinforce the commitment of the TJTO to inclusion. In addition to the translation in Libras, from now on, the sessions of the Plenary will have simultaneous subtitles.

Democratic strenghtening and dialogue between Powers 

The president also highlighted the historic moment lived by the Judiciary of the state of Tocantins with the creation of eight new vacancies for the position of justices and wished success to the new members of the Full Court.

On that occasion, the justice reaffirmed her commitment to institutional dialogue and thanked the executive and legislative powers for their respectful and cooperative coexistence.  "Independent and, at the same time, collaborative action between the Powers strengthens democracy, ensures the stability of institutions and contributes to the construction of a fairer, balanced society committed to the public interest," she said.

"Our actions will remain guided by resolution, legality, responsible management and the promotion of rights, always in line with the principles that govern the Democratic State of Law", said the president.

Commitment to the society of the state of tocantins 

Pedro Nelson de Miranda Coutinho, the general chief of Justice, said that this moment symbolizes not only the resumption of forensic activities, but also the renewal of the commitment of the Judiciary to society of the state of Tocantins and to the values of the Democratic State of Law. He highlighted that 2025 was marked by intense technical and institutional work of the General Internal Affairs of Justice, with visits to counties, courts, citizenship actions and inter-institutional articulations aimed at strengthening judicial and extrajudicial activity, as well as advances in innovation, qualification of civil servers, data-driven governance and citizenship-oriented actions.

The deputy governor, Laurez Moreira; the president of the Court of Auditors of the State, Alberto Sevilha; the president of BAR Tocantins, Gedeon Pitaluga Júnior; the general public defender of the State, Pedro Alexandre Conceição Aires Gonçalves; the general attorney of Justice, Abel Andrade Leal Júnior; the general attorney of the city of Palmas, Renato Oliveira, representing the mayor of the capital; and the vice-president of the Association of Magistrates of the state of Tocantins (Asmeto), Judge Odete Almeida.  

The Vice-President of Asmeto recalled that the opening of the Judicial Year represents an institutional moment of great importance for the Democratic State of Law, as it represents a symbolic milestone in which the Judiciary reaffirms its commitment to enforce fundamental rights.

The representatives of the Justice System (BAR, Public Defender’s Office and State Prosecution of Tocantins), in turn, highlighted the union of institutions to strengthen the Judiciary for the benefit of the citizens of the state of Tocantins.

“The Judicial System is unique, branches of the same tree and must act together", said Gedeon Pitaluga when opening the speech.

“The Justice System is the pillar of the Democratic Rule of Law. It is imperative that we act together so that none of these gears fail. It is necessary that all the agencies are equipped to meet the citizen of the state of Tocantins", said the public defender, Pedro Alexandre.

The general attorney of Justice Abel Andrade concluded by highlighting the position of the president of the TJTO. "A human conduct, simple and humble in the conduct of the Court of Justice."

At the end of the ceremony, the president of the TJTO wished that the Judicial Year of 2026 be marked by institutional dialogue, cooperation and permanent commitment to legality, citizenship and justice.
