Esmat Library Receives New Titles And Expands Its Collection In Strategic Areas

The Library of the Superior School of the Judges of the State of Tocantins (ESMAT) has incorporated a new collection of works, further expanding the consultation and options of study for magistrates, civil servers, trainees and researchers.

The new acquisitions cover areas such as Law, Philosophy, Sociology, Political Science, Communication, Education, Technology, Human Rights and contemporary issues related to democracy, governance, artificial intelligence, diversity, environment and public policies.

Among the newly added titles are works by authors such as Norberto Bobbio, Angela Davis, Jürgen Habermas, Giorgio Agamben, Marilena Chaui, Slavoj Žižek, Thomas Piketty, Byung-Chul Han, Tim Marshall, in addition to classics of Law, political thought and social theory.

The collection also received new updated technical and legal books, with topics such as criminal law, civil procedure, agribusiness, contracts, constitutional law, artificial intelligence applied to Law, digital proof, governance and public management, strengthening the support to academic, institutional and research activities developed in the School.

About the Library

The Esmat Library runs from Monday to Friday, from 12 to 6 pm, with free access for study and consultation. The home loan is intended for magistrates, civil servers, trainees of the Judiciary and students of the courses of the School, during the academic period.

In addition to the physical collection, the Library offers three search platforms, with content accessible through the Intranet and/ or Internet, by registration:

  • Digital ProViewTM Library: brings together an initial collection of more than 800 works from the Journal of the Courts Editor and Fiscosoft, with monthly update (new titles and new editions). Allows search within the platform and within each work, as well as notes, highlights, marks and printing of content in PDF. Access via Intranet/ Internet; request registration in the Library.
  • My Library: platform with a collection of more than 8,000 titles, 100% in the Portuguese language, covering more than 200 courses and 1,500 subjects. Brings together 12 major academic publishers and 15 editorial labels, including: Grup A, Grup GEN, Atlas, Manole, Saraiva, Cortez, Forense LTC and Método. The catalog includes areas such as Legal, Human, Exact, Applied Social, Agrarian, Biological and Health Sciences. Access via Internet; request registration in the Library.
  • RT ONLINE: legal database ONLINE, with current and historical collection of the periodicals of the Journal of the Courts Editor, integrating doctrine, jurisprudence, legislation and summaries, as well as selected content from the Reuters Agency.

Registration and services

To sign up, go to the Library with the photo ID. Magistrates, civil servers and trainees must inform the registration. Students of the School not linked to the Judiciary must present proof of registration.

The loan is for 15 calendar days, with the possibility of renewal for the same term up to three times. Internal users can withdraw up to five books and five journals. Dictionaries, encyclopedias and rare works are intended for local reference only.

It is also possible to book borrowed works: simply request them in person, by phone or through the ONLINE collection consultation page. In the search results, below the description of a loaned work, the option "Reservation" will appear, by registration and password. The reserved item is available for 24 hours for exclusive loan from the person who made the reservation.
