The deadline for submission of expanded abstracts that will be presented at the XVIII International Congress on Human Rights, promoted by the Superior School of the Tocantinense Magistracy (Esmat) and the Post-Submission Program, expires this Friday, October 24Degree in Judicial Service and Human Rights (PPGPJDH), in partnership with the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT).
The selection of works is regulated by Edital no 487, from 2025.
The Congress takes place from 11 to 14 November, in Palmas (TO), with the theme "The Future of Human Rights in the Age of Artificial Intelligence". The call seeks to foster scientific production and stimulate academic debate on the impacts of new technologies on fundamental rights
How to participate on the selection
The selection of works is divided into two categories:
- Category I - Scientific Initiation: for undergraduate students of any institution, with teaching guidance;
- Category II - Academic Research: for graduate students (LATO or STRICTO SENSU), also with compulsory orientation.

Registrations to participate in the Congress are also already open, free of charge and open to the general public. The programming includes international conferences, Thematic Tables and nine face-to-face mini-courses, all aimed at reflecting on the challenges of the digital age in guaranteeing human rights.
Among the highlights of the programming is the presence of Chinese Professor Zhao Shuhong, from the College of Criminal Sciences at Beijing Normal University, who will teach the International Mini-course on artificial intelligence, the penal system and human rights.

Tribute and coordination
This edition will pay tribute to the Brazilian scientist Patrícia Florissi, technical director of GOOGLE CLOUD in New York. Doctor in Computer Science, she is a world reference in technological innovation.
The Congress has general coordination of Justice Marco Villas Boas, director of ESMAT and president of Copedem, and scientific coordination of Professor Tarsis Barreto de Oliveira, from UFT (Federal University of the state of Tocantins)/Esmat. The event is promoted by the TJTO, Esmat and UFT (Federal University of the state of Tocantins), with support from Copedem (Permanent College of Directors of State Schools of the Magistracy), Capes, Asmeto (Association of the Magistrates of the state of Tocantins), Fapto (Foundation for Scientific and Technological Support of the state of of Tocantins), Eletrobrás (Brazilian Electrical Centers), National Council of Education (CNE) and ILANUD/ONU (United Nations Latin American Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders).
